Tom Hanks Cheekily Tells Photogs to "Shut the F--k Up" on Red Carpet

Tom Hanks knows a thing or two about working the camera.
The actor had some fun on at the New York City premiere of his new movie The Phoenician Scheme May 28 when he playfully chastised photographers for keeping him from moving down the red carpet.
“Can you hurry it up so I can get to these people,” Tom exclaimed in a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by MTV UK, seemingly referring to the journalists waiting in the press line. “You and your cushy jobs.”
As the camerapeople proceeded to snap away, the 68-year-old—who stars in the Wes Anderson comedy alongside Benicio Del Toro, Bryan Cranston and Scarlett Johansson—continued his lighthearted bit, even shouting at one point for them to “shut the f--k up” before flashing a good-natured grin.
While the moment was evidently all in good fun, another two-time Oscar winner seemingly had a less pleasant red carpet experience earlier this month.
During an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival May 19 for the premiere of his new movie Highest 2 Lowest, Denzel Washington got into a heated exchange with a photographer after having his name called out while chatting with his costar A$AP Rocky. In a video of the incident, Denzel proceeded to approach the paparazzo, who appeared to laugh and grab his arm.
From there, the 70-year-old seemingly mouthed a stern “stop it, stop it” while pointing directly at the photog, freeing his arm in the process and walking away from the scene.
But the incident didn’t seem to put a damper on Denzel’s evening, as his rep told E! News in a statement May 20, “It was a great evening.”
In fact, once inside, Denzel was presented with an honorary Palme d’Or by director and longtime collaborator Spike Lee, in recognition of his lengthy career.
“We’re a very privileged group in this room that we get to make movies and wear tuxedos and nice clothes and dress up and get paid for it as well,” he said as he accepted the award. “I’m blessed beyond measure. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you all.”
